Introducing APCO’s Fundamentals of Next Generation 9-1-1 Course: Shaping the Future of Public Safety Communications

Alexandria, VA – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) is proud to announce the launch of its highly anticipated course, the Fundamentals of Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1). The course delves into key concepts critical for success, including interoperability, reliability, redundancy and cybersecurity. Moreover, participants will gain insights into the new opportunities next-generation technologies offer to emergency communications centers (ECCs) that enhance operations. The inaugural course is October 31 – November 1, 2023, on-site at APCO Headquarters in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Designed to address the multifaceted challenges faced by ECC managers, the course offers a comprehensive exploration of integrating new data flows into ECC operations and information for recruiting and retaining skilled personnel. The curriculum extends its coverage to encompass vital aspects such as budgeting and life cycle planning, from the initial stages of a request for proposal to project management through closeout procedures. This comprehensive framework ensures that professionals are equipped not only with theoretical understanding, but also practical skills to drive the evolution of public safety communications forward.
