Alexandria, VA – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International has filed a Project Initiation with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to revise APCO American National Standard (ANS) Core Competencies, Operational Factors, and Training for Next Generation Technologies in the Emergency Communications Center (ECC). This revision seeks to address core competencies, operational factors, and training requirements for public safety telecommunicators specific to next generation technology. A working group will be established and APCO is soliciting individuals with ECC training, technical and operational knowledge to participate in the revision of this standard.

All interested persons, including users, producers and those with a general interest in next generation technologies in the ECC should complete the online application to join this working group. Participants in an APCO standards working group will acquire points toward their Registered Public-Safety Leader (RPL) recertification.
The deadline to sign up is May 5, 2024. Selections will be made within two weeks of the closing date, and all will be notified of their status via email.
