Your Leadership Is a Trauma Response (and It’s Not Working)

Only four percent of the population meets the criteria for mission-critical leadership. Some of these characteristics include: emotional intelligence, impulse control, social confidence and trust-building, stress tolerance and reliability. These traits can be created through our trauma wounds and approval wounds.

Trauma wounds can lead to protecting others because we once knew what it was like to need protection. Approval wounds arise from the need to earn what should have been given freely. These wounds create survival patterns that can be both good and bad.

When it comes to leadership manifesting through wounds, if you do not know the why behind what you do, then why are you doing it? Your why should be equal parts truth and aspiration. The why is the number one part that is missing in most communication. We often end up in cultures that others create, but we should strive to be the architects of the culture we want.
