Will County, Illinois, Public Safety Telecommunicator Melissa E. Prosser, 26, of Bourbonnais, passed away April 5. Fox 32 Chicago reported that Prosser died after a traffic accident on Interstate 55.
Prosser, an APCO member, was a telecommunicator for WESCOM, the Western Will County Communication Center. A post by The Yard Foundation says Prosser began her career as an emergency medical technician and later answered rural 9-1-1 calls before joining WESCOM.
“Missi was a wonderful person who displayed a passion for helping others, and quickly became a valued member of the WESCOM family,” the ECC said in a Facebook post. “Words cannot adequately describe our feelings right now, and our condolences are with her family and friends. To say she will be missed would be an understatement. Rest easy Missi, we have the watch from here.”
Prosser is survived by parents Michael Prosser and Margaret Prosser (Malloy) of Bourbonnais; and brothers Zach Prosser of Plainfield and Patrick Prosser of Bourbonnais.
