The House of Representatives advanced several public safety communications bills this week:
- The First Responder Network Authority Reauthorization Act of 2026 (H.R. 7386), which would reauthorize FirstNet for ten years.
- The Emergency Reporting Act (H.R. 5200), which would improve information shared with emergency communications centers during network outages that affect 9-1-1.
- The Kari’s Law Reporting Act (H.R. 5201) would direct the FCC to evaluate the implementation of Kari’s Law, which requires multi-line telephone systems to support 9-1-1 calls without the need to dial a prefix.
- The Mystic Alerts Act (H.R. 7022), which would help facilitate the delivery of wireless emergency alerts through satellite service.
APCO commends the House of Representatives for advancing these important public safety communications bills and looks forward to working with the Senate toward final enactment.
