Alexandria, VA – APCO International announced this week that Alison Venable has accepted the position of government relations senior counsel. Venable has worked for APCO for more than five years supporting APCO’s Government Relations Office (GRO) on a variety of advocacy issues critical to emergency communications.
As senior counsel, Venable will continue to support APCO’s legislative and regulatory efforts and Chief Counsel Nicole McGinnis. She is responsible for analyzing federal policy issues related to 9-1-1 service and public safety spectrum, coordinating with state and federal officials, and supporting APCO’s advocacy initiatives to strengthen emergency communications nationwide.

Before joining APCO Alison worked as a research assistant for the Center for Health and Homeland Security and as an intern in the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission. Alison earned her J.D. from University of Maryland School of Law in 2020 with a certification in Cybersecurity and Crisis Management Law and Policy. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in international studies from American University, along with a certification in international development from Manipal University in Manipal, India.
