APCO Announces Final Approval and Publication of New American National Standard

The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International received final approval for APCO ANS 1.122.1-2023 Career Progression Within the Public Safety Emergency Communications Center on June 2, 2023.

This operational standard places an emphasis on the need to effectively manage situations with critical decision-making responsibilities. It also offers guidance for emergency communications centers (ECCs) of all sizes on opportunities for employee growth, promotions and development of tomorrow’s leaders.

“The environment of the ECC in today’s world continues to see an advancement in technology, personnel and operational functionality,” said Angela R. Batey, APCO International President. “Recognizing the unique set of core competencies needed to be successful in any role in the ECC, this standard delivers a career progression template that can be used by upper-level management.”

The standard can be found on the APCO website and for more information about APCO Standards email [email protected].
