To Radio Club of America Partner APCO:
One of the benefits of your partnership with RCA is that every year we provide one free ticket to an officer or board member of your organization, to our Technical Symposium and Awards Banquet in November. The purpose is for you to network with our members and get to know RCA better. This year, because of the pandemic, we are holding both events virtually. Because they are virtual, both events are free to allof your membership. We hope that you will promote these events to your membership by an email blast or similar. Following is a message you may wish to send to your members.
Message to Members
We have an organizational partnership with the Radio Club of America. This year their Technical Symposium and their Awards Banquet are being held virtually, and both are open to the public.
The Technical Symposium has a focus on the 100th anniversary of broadcasting in the U.S., which started with Pittsburgh radio station KDKA. The Technical Symposium features 11 presenters, and many of the presentations are about broadcast technology or KDKA. There are also other presentations on other wireless subjects. This event starts at 9:00 AM Eastern time on Saturday, November 21,, and ends just before 6:00 PM. You will be able to enjoy this event in the comfort of your home with your computer. An agenda and program can be found on the RCA Website: https://www.radioclubofamerica.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/2020-Agenda-Abstracts-Bios-Final-1.2-16-Nov-2020.pdf.
Also RCA is holding its Awards event right afterwards, from 6:00 until 7:00 PM Eastern time. Those that choose to attend both events get a free chance to win either a hand-held shortwave and VHF/UHF receiver, or an amateur radio transceiver, courtesy of ICOM.
However, in order to attend either or both events, you MUST preregister to get the Zoom links. The pre-registration for both events is at: https://www.radioclubofamerica.org/2020-awards-banquet-and-technical-symposium-registration/ Feel free to encourage your colleagues to attend these events as well!
Also RCA is interviewing KDKA’s Program Manager Jim Graci on Tuesday November 17 at 9:00 PM Eastern time to discuss some of the history of broadcasting and KDKA. There is no cost to view this interview, but again you must preregister at the RCA Website.
Our partner, the Radio Club of America, is the world’s oldest society of wireless professionals, founded in 1909. RCA’s focus is on the future of wireless through youth and education, helping those in the present with their careers, and preserving the past history of our industry.
