Dani-Jean Stuart made a career change from directing live television newscasts to dispatching fire and EMS calls for two towns in southern New Hampshire a little over a year ago. The larger town is commuting distance to Boston, Massachusetts with several major travel corridors and a wide variety of residential, industrial, and commercial properties within its jurisdiction. She is New Hampshire’s first Masala Bhangra Workout Ambassador, teaching a fusion of Bhangra and Bollywood dance from India. She is an outdoorswoman and amateur musher running the trails year round with her retired sled dog, Storm. She is also a Reiki Master and practitioner of yoga for four decades. With her weight continuing to creep up despite being active, she started reading studies about the effects of a sedentary lifestyle and was surprised to find she’s considered an “Active Couch Potato” by obesity researchers. But weight isn’t her only concern, she is on a mission to help her brothers and sisters in the dispatch community live a little healthier overall given the constraints and conditions of the job.
