APCO APPLAUDS SENATOR ROCKEFELLER FOR HIS SUPPORT OF D BLOCK FOR PUBLIC SAFETY
July 21, 2010, Alexandria, Va. - The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International applauds Senator Jay Rockefeller, IV, Chairman of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee (D - WV), for announcing his intention to introduce legislation in the coming days, which directs the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to allocate the D Block to public safety with funding to build and maintain a nationwide interoperable public safety broadband network.
"Chairman Rockefeller's support and leadership on this top-priority issue for our nation's public safety and first responder communities is critical and we are eager to work cooperatively with him and his colleagues on the Committee and in the Senate to realize a long-overdue 9/11 Commission recommendation," APCO International President Richard Mirgon said.
