VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY NAMED 2007 APCO CALLS AWARD WINNER
June 18, 2007, Washington, DC – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International today announced the Virginia Commonwealth University as the 2007 Corporate Award for Leadership in 9-1-1 Location Solutions (CALLS). The award will be presented at the Opening General Session of the APCO International 73rd Annual Conference and Exposition on Aug. 6 in Baltimore, Md.
The CALLS Award is made each year to a corporation whose service to their employer and the community they serve over the current year has been deserving of recognition. Virginia Commonwealth University was nominated by RedSky Technologies, Inc. for being a leader in the community and for taking a proactive action to provide a safe environment for a public facility that impacts tens of thousands of people in the community. In addition, RedSky Technologies, Inc.
recognized Virginia Commonwealth University for their leadership in understanding the E9-1-1 issue and installing a comprehensive solution before they were required to do so.

"It is apparent they have the public's safety in mind and they have demonstrated their desire to protect the residents and visitors of their campus."
