APCO APPLAUDS FCC WIRELESS ACCURACY ACTION
May 31, 2007, Washington, D.C. -
The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International today applauded the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for their action to improve wireless accuracy. The action was a part of today's Open Commission Meeting, during which the FCC considered a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) concerning wireless Enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1) location accuracy and automatic location identification for interconnected Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services.
"We applaud the FCC for today's action which should lead to improved location accuracy for wireless 9-1-1 calls, allowing for more efficient and rapid responses to emergencies," APCO International President Wanda McCarley said.
