APCO-International Public-Safety Communications Award Program

APCO International presents awards to public safety communications personnel who have demonstrated the highest levels of personal and professional conduct and performance in the line of duty.

Award categories currently include Telecommunicator of the Year, Communications Center Director of the Year, Line Supervisor of the Year, Radio Frequency (RF) Technologist of the Year, Information Technologist of the Year, and Trainer of the Year.

2010 nominations can be made now and will be accepted until April 1, 2010.

Who's eligible?

Nominees must have been employed in the applicable category by a public safety agency at any time between April 1, 2009 and March 31, 2010. Nominees do not have to be members of APCO. Persons submitting a nomination or being nominated must be; a.) Residents of the United States or its Territories OR b.) Residents of an International Chapter (not in a Global Alliance location) of APCO International, as contained in APCO Policy Manual Article XIII, Section 13.1

What do the award winners receive?

Award recipients will enjoy our VIP treatment, which starts with a fully paid trip to the Annual Conference & Exposition, including registration, travel expenses, and hotel accommodations. This year's conference, APCO's 76th, will be in Houston, Texas! During the conference, the recipients will be brought on stage to receive their awards in front of thousands. In addition, the recognition does not stop there-they will also be featured in local press releases and in an article in APCO's Public Safety Communications magazine.

When are the award winners announced?

APCO's Awards Committee submits final selections to the Board of Officers in early May. Approved award recipients are notified of their selection in mid-May.
