Public Safety Foundation of America

Inspired by an offer from Nextel to help expedite Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) readiness, the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials, International (APCO) decided to form a new charitable Foundation. Under the plan the Foundation will accept private, corporate and public donations on behalf of the public safety community then distribute those funds to provide both financial grants and technical support to individual nonprofit PSAPs across the nation. The APCO Board of Officers will serve as the Board of Directors for the Foundation. A Foundation Advisory Board, consisting of the following member organizations, shall be responsible for reviewing all applications and recommending approval of grants.

Department of Homeland Security Grants

This site provides information on homeland security and public safety grant opportunities offered by agencies across the Federal government and is intended to simplify access to these grants by placing information in a single, easily accessible site. It includes grants offered by the Department of Homeland Security as well as other Federal Departments and Agencies. Critical state and local missions supported through these grants include the preparedness of first responders and citizens, public health, infrastructure security, and other public safety activities.   While these programs vary considerably in their size and scope, they all contribute to making our nation more secure against the threat of terrorism, as well as other natural and man-made hazards.

COPS awards millions of dollars every year to help community policing keep America safe. This section archives COPS grant announcements, each of which explains the amount of funding awarded and the programs through which it was distributed.
