Nomination Form
Corporate
Award for Leadership in 9-1-1 Location Solutions
This
award is intended for those who operate MLTS and who excel at delivering
sufficient location information to public safety answering points. Don't
let the award name fool you. It is not just for corporations, but also
for public sector orgaizations, residential complex operators, hospitals
and nursing homes, as well as schools - anyone who utilizes a PBX system.
CALLS
Nomination Procedures
- Nominations
will be solicited from solutions vendors, 911 professionals, sub-committee
members, and MLTS owner/operators;
- A
nomination form shall be used to consistently gather information on
the award candidate;
- Sub-committee
(or work-group) review shall be blind as it relates to vendor solutions;
- Vendors
can participate after award winner’s selection, if requested (e.g. sponsorship,
PR, etc);
- The
selection committee reserves the right to contact nominees for Q&A
and for clarification/completion of information from the application
form;
- The
selection team will consist of APCO 9-1-1 committee and/or MLTS/PBX
work-group members (team size to range from 3 – 7 individuals);
- Selection
committee member will not include employees from solution vendors;
- Selection/nomination
will be done annually;
- If
and when the number of nominees warrants it and the MLTS/PBX work-group
agrees, multiple grand awardees may be recognized in the following categories:
- Process
review shall occur annually; August 1 – November 1;
- Nominations
open; November 1 – April 1;
- Selection
process; April 1– April 15;
- Prior-year
nominees may be re-nominated and will be recognized as multi-year award
winners if fully-eligible;
- All
fully-eligible nominees will be recognized;
- Grand
Award winner(s) at the annual APCO conference with a representative
of the MLTS owner/operator present;
- Runners-up
will receive public mention at the APCO conference;
- All
other fully-eligible nominees (and the above-listed winners) will receive
a letter/certificate from APCO; and mention in the APCO Bulletin and
web site.
- Annual
recognition for winners and those fully-eligible in August, at the Association’s
Annual Conference and Exposition;
- The
award winner(s) will identify a spokesperson to participate in the award/recognition
and media release.
CALLS
Selection Criteria
- The
selection team will consider the region-wide or nationwide impact of
the MLTS owner/operator’s solutions
- The selection team will consider the impact on employee safety that
the candidate has effected (e.g. the number of employees impacted)
- The
selection team will consider whether or not the MLTS operator goes beyond
minimum requirements of local legislation (e.g. applies one state’s
legislation to its operations in other states not covered by that legislation)
- The
selection team will consider the existence of and adequacy of MLTS user
education on emergency dialing
- The
selection team will consider how long the “fix” has been installed;
- The
selection team will consider the accuracy of the MLTS operator’s database;
for example, how current are the moves/adds/changes kept
- The
selection team will consider if using ERL concept (rather than individual
suite or office locations).
- Are
ERLs simply building addresses or more specific as to floor/suite/section?
- If
building address only; how big is the biggest building? (# of floors
and square feet)
- If
by floor, suite, or room; what is the square footage of the largest
location?
- The
selection team will consider if the MLTS operator is using an alternative
answering point internally to give information to PSAPs and/or public
safety responders;
- What
is the level of accuracy?;
- Is
the alternate point staffed 7X24?, and;
- Whether
the specific location of the caller’s phone is known to the alternative
answering point;
- In
any case, the ability of the on-scene staff to assist responders
to the location of the 9-1-1 caller
- The
selection team will consider the number of separate geographic locations
covered;
- The
selection team will consider any information on the number or nature
of “saves” attributable to the adequacy of the MLTS.
- The MLTS operator must be willing to participate in media events related
to 911 CALLS program and their response to location issues in their
business or organizational environment.
