Not Just for Chapter Officers 

The next Chapter Officers Training & Mentoring course will start on January 24. This six-week course is free to members and provides an overall understanding of the association and its workings. APCO 2007 Gulf Coast Regional Conference Call for Papers

The Tennessee Chapter of APCO International is proud to host the 2007 Gulf Coast Regional Conference, May 14 - 17, 2007.  This conference is an educational, networking, and industry exhibits event for public safety communications and law enforcement professionals to explore the most critical issues affecting communications for public safety organizations.  The submission deadline for papers is December 22.  For more information visit www.tnapco.org.  

Region 18 (Louisiana) 700 MHz Public Safety Planning Committee Announces Next Meeting

The Region 18 (Louisiana) 700 MHz Public Safety Planning Committee announces that its next meeting will be held on January 17 at 4:30 p.m. at the Cypress Bend Resort in The Learning Center, 2000 Cypress Bend Parkway, Many, La.  The purpose of this meeting is to review and discuss the draft 700 MHz plan.  All interested parties wishing to participate in the planning for the use of public safety spectrum in the 700 MHz band within Region 18 are encouraged to attend.  For further information, please contact William R. APCO Seeking 9-1-1 Call Tapes

APCO International is working on a project to educate the public about the dangers of using 9-1-1 for non-emergencies.  We are looking for humorous calls in which citizens have dialed 9-1-1 instead of 4-1-1, reported trivial matters, or reported other non-emergencies.  If you have any tapes of non-emergency calls to 9-1-1 that can be broadcast on national media please contact Courtney McCarron at mccarronc@apco911.org or 202.833.9600.

2007 Western States Regional Conference

The 2007 Western States Regional Conference (WSRC) will be held Feb. 26 - March 1, 2007 at the Long Beach Convention Center in California.  For more information, and to register for the conference, please go to www.cpra.org.

APCO MAAP Expanding Roster

APCO International's Member Assistance Advisory Program (MAAP) is expanding its roster of volunteer Subject Matter Exerts (SMEs) used to perform its MAAP Agency Reviews. MAAP has a wide-ranging yet simple goal: To provide public safety communications managers and their executive leadership with advice on the issues surrounding effective and efficient operations every day. Individuals interested in serving as a MAAP volunteer SME are encouraged to complete the online application located on the Comm Center and 9-1-1 Services webpage at http://www.apcointl.org/about/911/.

Call to Action: APCO Encourages Agencies to File Comments on Cyren Call Proposal

The FCC has opened a docket (RM-11348) to receive comments on a proposal from Cyren Call Communications to reallocate 30 MHz of spectrum now slated for auction in the 700 MHz band.
