APCO Re-Releases PBX/MLTS Whitepaper
APCO International previously released a whitepaper on accessing 9-1-1 from Private Branch Exchanges (PBX) and Multi-Line Telephone Systems (MLTS). There is a need for authoritative action on the part of public safety leaders in respect to this issue. PBX/MLTS is an issue which has been overshadowed by other technologies, but the problems associated with this technology have not been fully addressed. Senators Nelson, Snow and Clinton Introduce a Bill to Amend the Wireless Communications and Public Safety Act of 1999

Panelists Call for Emergency Communications Mandate
Members of the House Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee and a panel of national security experts criticized the Homeland Security Department Tuesday for not doing enough to ensure that state and local governments have interoperable communications equipment, adding that Congress should mandate new standards.
