National Joint TERT Initiative Releases Best Practices Website
The National Joint TERT Initiative (NJTI) has developed a website that includes step-by-step instructions on how to develop a Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce (TERT) program in your state. The NJTI website also includes sample forms, and up-to-date information on key contacts, including state coordinators. The NJTI website is located at http://www.njti-tert.org/.
New Orleans Transitions to APCO P25 Compliant Radio System

Members of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, have asked the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to develop guidance for awarding grants under a program created by the ENHANCE 911 Act of 2004. Chairmen Inouye and Stevens Introduce Measure to Improve Emergency Communications
Senate Commerce Committee Chairmen Daniel K. Inouye (D-Hawaii) and Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) today introduced the "Interoperable Emergency Communications Act" to provide the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) more guidance on the award of $1 billion in interoperable emergency communications grants to police, firemen, and emergency medical personnel.
